Cultural Enrichment Programs

The PTO provides funding each year for a variety of curriculum based educational programs which enhance our students’ experience at West El.  This year, our students will experience many programs including creative arts and music, science and technology and social studies.  These programs supplement the academic curriculum and increase the students’ exposure to the Fine Arts.
For the 2010-2011 school year, the Cultural Enrichment Committee has planned a number of exciting educational programs for all grades.  Bay Colony Educators returned to West earlier this month to give 5th graders a peak of what life was like during colonial times.  The Star Lab from the Museum of Science visited 4th graders recently with their portable planetarium.  On October 22, grades K-5 were treated to a performance by Odds Bodkin, a musical storyteller.  This program, which is part of the All Town Cultural program, is funded by a generous grant from the Andona Society as well as our PTO. Other programs such as Top Secret Science, Techsploration, Ocean World Tidal Pools, Paul Revere House and Michelle’s Menagerie will all visit West Elementary.

We will need volunteers to greet and/or help the program presenters during the year.  If you are interested in helping out with a specific grade level, please contact Donna Robinson at donna_robinson@comcast.net. This is a great way to view these exciting educational programs with the children!
