The School Council was developed as a result to the Education Reform Act of 1993. The formation of School Councils developed originally for accountability and performance-improvement of underperforming schools. Now School Councils exist for all public schools in Massachusetts.


West Elementary's School Council is composed of the Principal, 3 teachers and 3 parents. Member tenure is for 2 years.
