West Elementary Readers and Writers Conference
WERAWC is West Elementary’s Readers and Writers Conference. The idea, conceived at West Elementary School, is to expose children to many different storytellers, authors and illustrators thereby instilling a passion for reading and writing. The week begins with opening ceremonies, which consists of six performances by the student council and students at each grade level. During the course of the week the children see ten authors, illustrators and storytellers. In addition, over one thousand parents come to school to hear their children read their own published book and receive an official W.E.R.A.W.C. ribbon. The West Elementary School P.T.O generously sponsors this action-packed, fun-filled week.
